DOUGLAS COUNTY, Mo. -- A woman from Springfield was arrested Wednesday morning after a pursuit with law enforcement through Douglas and Christian County over a stolen vehicle from Wright County.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, they received a call from Mansfield police about a stolen vehicle out of Wright County that was heading toward Ava. A Douglas County Corporal spotted the car on Missouri Route 14 near Highway K and initiated a pursuit on Westbound 14 after the vehicle sped away from them.
Christian County deputies were called for assistance, and they set up spike strips as the pursuit continued into Sparta. The suspect vehicle tried to turn around after meeting the spike strips, but the Douglas County Cpl. struck the car's rear bumper twice, ending the pursuit.
The driver, identified as 29-year-old Janissa Wilson of Springfield, was taken into custody and was found to have illegal narcotics on her. She was taken to the Christian County Sheriff's Office awaiting pickup for Douglas County transport.
Wilson is on probation after being charged with possessing a controlled substance and motor vehicle tampering.
