Joplin firefighter Dustin Lunow told Newstalk KZRG:
“Every house we go to, all of our equipment, our medical bags actually have a carbon monoxide detector on them. Always on. So every time we go to your house to visit, we’re actually checking your carbon monoxide. Because it is a silent killer, it’s odorless, it’s colorless, you don’t smell it, you don’t taste it, you don’t know it’s there. One of the number 1 things you can do for your protection is buy a carbon monoxide detector.”
Carbon monoxide could be caused by using natural gas or propane in your home to heat and cook or heat water.
Also don’t run a generator inside your home.
