LEBANON, Mo. -- A woman from Lebanon who allegedly tried to poison her husband's two liters of Diet Mountain Dew is set to go to trial beginning on June 9, 2025.
Michelle Peters is currently charged with eight counts of first-degree assault and eight counts of armed criminal action, according to court records.
According to online court records, in May 2024, Peters' husband began feeling sick a couple of weeks after noticing his two liters of Diet Mountain Dew tasted different. He collected multiple videos that showed Peters tampering with his Mountain Dew and called Laclede County authorities about his suspicions that Peters was putting Roundup weed killer in his soft drinks.
When Peters was interviewed, she told investigators she was mixing Mountain Dew and Roundup to use as a weed killer. She later admitted to putting insecticide in her husband's Diet Mountain Dew because her husband didn't appreciate her efforts to throw him a party for his 50th birthday and wanted to be "mean" to him.
A pre-trial conference for Peters is set for March 3, 2025.
