SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Missouri State University's Pride Marching Band was selected to perform in the presidential inauguration parade on Jan. 20.
According to a press release from Missouri State University, the band submitted an application that included photos, videos and letters of recommendation from Missouri Governor Mike Parson and Representative Eric Burlison in November.
“We’re all very excited to represent the entire state of Missouri at this historic event,” said Dr. Brad Snow, director of bands at MSU in the press release. “We’d like to thank everyone for the overwhelming support we have received since we were notified of our participation.”
350 students and staff will represent Missouri State at the inauguration.
This is the first presidential inauguration performance for the band, however, Missouri State has performed at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Tournament of Roses Parade, the Orange Bowl Parade and at NFL games in the past.
The inauguration parade is expected to begin between 12:30 and 1 p.m. Central time on Jan. 20, with all inaugural events available via Amazon streaming.
