ST. LOUIS - Police are asking for help from the public in identifying and locating a woman who allegedly assaulted a clerk at a south St. Louis auto parts store in early December.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), the assault took place around 8:45 p.m. on Dec. 9 at an O'Reilly's Auto Parts store, located on the 4200 block of South Broadway.

Police say the assault occurred after the woman made a purchase and got upset when a clerk informed her that the store was closing. When the clerk asked the woman to leave past closing hours, police say the woman reacted by knocking over a store computer and punching the clerk in the face.

The clerk suffered a minor hand injury while attempting to remove the woman out of the store, SLMPD says. The woman would leave the scene driving an older model Nissan Sentra.

The investigation is ongoing. If anyone has information on the woman and wants to remain anonymous, they are advised to contact CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477).
