BENTON COUNTY, Mo. — A fight at the Lake Hills Motel resulted in the death of one man and another injured.
According to a press release from the Benton County MO Sheriff's Office, on Jan. 3, deputies responded to reports of a stabbing and shots fired at the Lake Hills Motel. Shawn Murphy, 27, of Illinois, and Kevin Noland, 55, of Warsaw, were fighting with each other which resulted in Noland getting fatally stabbed.
Police believe the fatal injury was caused by Murphy.
During the altercation, Robert Hurr, 61, intervened and shot Murphy in the leg.
Noland was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Murphy was airlifted to a regional trauma center for treatment. He will be taken into custody upon his release.
Hurr was taken in for questioning and has since been released.
