Bill intends to provide personal property tax relief to Missourians

A Republican lawmaker has filed a bill intending to provide tax relief to residents. 

The legislation from Representative Louis Riggs of northeastern Missouri’s Hannibal proposes an income tax deduction for every dollar paid in personal property tax. 

He highlights the ongoing struggle that Missourians face with increasing personal property taxes. 

He wants to offer a dollar-for-dollar deduction, which he says would provide significant relief for families. 

Riggs, who began his fourth term in the Missouri House, emphasized the necessity of the measure to taxpayers.
