"Continuously harassed and stalked the victim through social media," Former theatre instructor accused of violating bail conditions

MIAMI, Okla. — A former Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College instructor charged with multiple counts of child sexual abuse is accused of contacting a teenage girl through social media, which is a direct violation of his bond restrictions.

A motion to revoke Aaron Smith's bond was filed earlier this month. The 45-year-old Fairland man, is scheduled to appear in Ottawa County District Court on Friday. NEO fired the former theatre instructor following a preliminary investigation last August.

Charged with six counts of child sexual abuse involving a 14-year-old girl, Smith was released from the Ottawa County jail after posting a $150,000 bail.

According to the motion, Smith allegedly sent a friend request to the 14-year-old on Threads's social media website requesting to follow her. Since being out on bail, Smith has "continuously harassed and stalked the victim through social media," the motion states.

Smith is also accused of viewing the teen's Snapchat account, which she receives notifications, the motion states.

According to an arrest affidavit, the teen attended theater and fine arts activities at NEO in Miami.

During a forensic interview at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Ottawa County in Miami, the teen described to investigators being sexually abused by Smith on numerous occasions, the affidavit states. The teen also disclosed she had been asked to send nude pictures of herself to Smith, and he allegedly sent nude photographs of himself to her, the affidavit states.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to contact Leslie Bissell, Children’s Advocacy Center of Ottawa County executive director, at (918) 540-1621 if they suspect any child is a victim of abuse.
