ST. LOUIS - A woman faces felony charges over an apparent accidental shooting death Friday in St. Louis.
The St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office has charged Mary Cornelius, 18, with first-degree involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action amid the investigation.
The teenager, whose identity has been withheld by police, was fatally shot around 2 p.m. Friday in the 1400 block of East Grand Avenue.
According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, when police responded to the scene, they found the wounded victim and Cornelius at the scene.
Cornelius admitted to holding a firearm while it was discharged, and a witness told police she was "negligently" handling the firearm moments before the victim was shot, per court documents.
Cornelius was taken into custody and booked into jail without bond, per Missouri court records.
