Who are the Chiefs potential Divisional Round opponents?

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Wild Card Weekend is on deck, but the Kansas City Chiefs won't be participating thanks to them getting the first seed in the AFC and earning a bye.

There is four potential opponents the Chiefs could host in the Divisional Round. Those teams are the Houston Texans, Los Angeles Chargers, Pittsburgh Steelers or Denver Broncos.

The Chiefs have played and beat all four teams this season, so they'd have some familiarity with each matchup.

In fact, the Chiefs closed out the regular season before resting their starters against the Broncos with back-to-back wins over the Texans and Steelers.

Houston has not played up to the level many expected this season, particularly CJ Stroud, who took the league by storm in his rookie season. But they did suffer a major hit to their receiving core with Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell suffering season-ending injuries. Stroud still can be dangerous and they also have dangerous weapons in Joe Mixon and Nico Collins. The Chiefs defeated Houston 27-19 in December.

The Chargers would likely be the toughest matchup for Kansas City. The Chiefs beat them 17-10 in Los Angeles in September and won 19-17 on a game-winning field that ricocheted off the upright in Week 14 at home. The Chargers have a very talented defense with plenty of athleticism. That unit is led by Derwin James, Tuli Tuipulotu and Khalil Mack. Justin Herbert is also one of the league's most gifted signal-callers with an offense that includes J.K. Dobbins and impressive rookie Ladd McConkey.

Pittsburgh comes into the playoffs reeling, having lost four games in a row. They've had major offensive struggles, not eclipsing 20 points in any of their losses. With that being said, they boast a talented defense anchored by TJ Watt, who can change a game in an instant. The Chiefs cruised to a 29-10 win over Pittsburgh on Christmas.

Denver also presents some challenges for the Chiefs. The Broncos nearly came away with a win in Kansas City back in November until a stunning field goal block as time expired. The Broncos offense has clicked to close out the season and rookie QB Bo Nix has played well beyond his expectations. They have dangerous receiving threats in Marvin Mims Jr. and Courtland Sutton. They also contain elite defensive players Nik Bonitto and Patrick Surtain II.

The Texans host the Chargers on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Later than evening, the Ravens host the Steelers at 7 p.m. The Broncos face the Buffalo Bills on the road at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
