Versailles man dead after stabbing in alleyway, suspect arrested
Versailles, Missouri police are investigating a stabbing on Friday, Jan. 3 that led to the death of a 69-year-old man.
VERSAILLES, Mo. -- Versailles, Missouri police are investigating a stabbing on Friday, Jan. 3 that led to the death of a 69-year-old man.
According to a press release from the Versailles Police Department (VPD), officers were called to an alleyway behind a shopping center on Westview Drive just after 2 p.m. after being told someone was stabbed in the neck.
Police received a report that the suspect fled to a nearby motel. The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Codee Munson, was arrested at the motel for assault.
First responders treated the victim at the scene and transported him by ambulance. The victim, identified as 69-year-old Carl Vernon Goodman, was pronounced deceased a short time later.
Munson has yet to be formally charged as of this writing, but VPD is seeking second-degree murder and armed criminal action charges against the suspect.
