St. Louis County prepares for more snow while still clearing the last round

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - Plows were out again Thursday, still catching up from last weekend's winter storm.

"I ask that everybody be patient; it's tough on our side, tough on your side; we understand that. But we can get through this together," St. Louis County Director of Transportation and Public Works Stephanie Leon Streeter said.

St. Louis County asked for patience as more snow approaches the region Thursday night.

"When people call, I just want to emphasize that we have a lot of wonderful people that work for us, and I just would just request that people be nice to us," St. Louis County Operation Division Manager Ryan Pierce said.

For days, FOX 2 has heard from drivers frustrated with the slow progress on the roads maintained by the county and MoDOT.

"I'm not going to criticize MoDOT—they're a very important partner of ours. They have limited resources like we do. They've struggled with getting their pay up to keep MODOT workers," County Executive Sam Page said.

The county says its fleet has more than 116 vehicles but not enough drivers. Officials asked people to keep their cars off the street to make it easier on the plows.

"It makes it really hard to get through. Our trucks are wide," Pierce said.

MoDOT was unavailable for interviews Thursday but said they will continue to work around the clock to clear roads.
