SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Greene County swore in six newly elected officials today during a ceremony at the historic courthouse.

The six positions that were sworn in today were the District 1 Commissioner, District 2 Commissioner, Assessor, Public Administrator, Treasurer and Sheriff.

Today was primarily ceremonial, as those sworn in had been re-elected to their posts, but still gave voters an opportunity to see their ballot choices in action.

John Russell was sworn in as District 2 Commissioner today, and Sheriff Jim Arnott for his fifth term.

"I appreciate the support, I look forward to continue to serve, and if you have any issues be sure to call us," said Arnott "We're just looking forward to going through the next four years and doing an excellent job."

"I'm grateful for the community for giving me this opportunity it's certainly a tremendous opportunity," Russell said. "I'm humbled and honored to be in the position they've given me to serve them."

The six who were sworn in today will remain in their positions until 2028, when they'll be up for re-election.
