ST. LOUIS - A man was carjacked Monday in St. Louis shortly after the suspect allegedly asked him for help shoveling snow, police say.

The carjacking happened around 6 p.m. Monday at a gas station in the 6000 block of North Broadway in St. Louis' North Riverfront neighborhood.

According to a St. Louis police crime summary report, the suspect initially approached the victim as a gas station and asked for help with shoveling snow. The victim briefly followed the suspect into St. Louis County, but he became suspicious and returned to the gas station.

When he arrived back at the gas station, the victim said the same suspect confronted him again, this time holding him at gunpoint and demanding his car. The suspect took off in the victim's vehicle and drove away from the scene, followed by an accomplice in a Chevy Traverese.

The victim, a 35-year-old man, was not injured amid the carjacking.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the public's help with information in the case. Anyone with relevant information should contact SLMPD at 314-444-2500 or CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477).
