GROVE, Okla. — The owner of a popular Grand Lake restaurant died in a fatal car crash on Sunday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
Matthew Sowers, 41, of Grove, was pronounced dead at the crash site, the patrol said.
The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. on East 250 Road, about a mile and a half west of Grove.
His passenger, Katelyn Sowers, 41, of Grove, was admitted to Mercy Hospital in serious condition.
Sowers’ 2019 Lexus GX460 was eastbound on 250 road when, for an unknown reason, departed the roadway, collided with a culvert and a roadway sign, and traveled into the ditch before striking a tree, the patrol said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Sowers operated Matt's Place restaurant in Grove.
