God's Resort opens 'Blessing House' for local youth

JOPLIN, Mo. — An area ministry now has a place set aside specifically for young people.

As important as family is, it's not practical for kids and their parents to spend every hour together, especially during the school year.

When it comes to an area transitional housing ministry, God's Resort, young people now have a place of their own and it's called the "Blessing House."

"I think it also brings some stability for the kids to know that it's a familiar space and it's especially for them," said Julie St. Clair, resident care director, God's Resort.

The building is located right next door to "God's Resort Community Center."

As a result, kids no longer have to go down into the basement of the building to learn about the gospel.

"This is where we'll do all of our childcare from mornings with kids before school, to during our evening programming and then and also with their parents are meeting with their coordinators, I meet with the kids here, so the majority of the time it's Bible lessons like we're learning," said Kyleigh Wayman, next generation coordinator, God's Resort.

Now, young people, ranging in age from a few years old into their teens, have all the room they need, and there's less work involved for everyone.

"It's very helpful because there was a lot of set up tear down," said St. Clair.

The next step is to eventually open up a children's recreation space.
